HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston police said a woman riding an electric bike is dead after being struck by an SUV in southwest Houston on Sunday night.
Officers said it happened in the 6100 block of West Airport, near Hillcroft, at about 9:30 p.m.
Police said the bicyclist was trying to cross the road, not at an intersection, and didn't have a headlight or any reflectors on her bike. The Houston Fire Department said she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers said the SUV's driver, a man in his 70s, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Investigators said they do not believe speed was a factor, and the driver showed no signs of impairment.
