According to court documents obtained by ABC13, the incident happened near Laura Koppe Road and Lockwood Drive on Dec. 27 in northeast Houston.
Court records contend that the suspect, Jayla Brown, told detectives she was in an "on and off" relationship with Keylan Foreman, and the two were arguing outside her vehicle.
That's when investigators said Brown claims Foreman hit her. After looking through surveillance video from a nearby business, detectives said there was no evidence backing Brown's claims.
Court documents go on to state that Brown can be seen in the video hitting Brown, knocking him to the ground, and kept attacking him while she had a long, thin object in her right hand.
According to detectives, Brown told them she was going to drive Foreman to the hospital, but didn't have enough gas, so she stopped at this gas station and asked someone to call 911.
That's where officers found him unconscious and bleeding before he was rushed to the hospital, according to the documents.
According to the medical examiner's office, Foreman died on Jan. 19, and autopsy reports show the injuries were from the screwdriver.
Investigators haven't said what led to the argument.
