Houston TranStar showed the wreck temporarily closed the West Sam Houston Tollway southbound lanes at Westpark Tollway near Westheimer at around 3:30 a.m. before all lanes reopened at about 7:17 a.m.
Pct. 5 confirmed to ABC13 that someone died in the crash, adding that it involved a Corvette that was going at a high speed down the Beltway before it lost control and hit the barrier wall. The Corvette was then reportedly hit by an 18-wheeler and caught fire.
TranStar cameras captured the fire just after 3 a.m., when flames and smoke could be seen coming from the car.
No other information about the wreck was made available.
