SkyEye flew over the scene where the sheriff's office said more than a dozen boxcars had overturned.
In a social media post, the Waller County Sheriff's Office said no injuries were reported.
Union Pacific sent ABC13 a statement that read:
"Around 6 p.m. CT Monday, approximately 23 rail cars on a Union Pacific train derailed near Prairie View, Texas. The incident occurred near Old Houston Highway and Highway 290. No one was hurt and no hazmat is involved. Cleanup is underway and the incident is under investigation."
Just before 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, an ABC13 crew said the road was still blocked off with a patrol vehicle at James Muse and Old Houston Parkway. In a 10 a.m. update, the Waller County Sheriff's Office said that all the cars were upright and the roads should be open.
After repairs, the rail line went back into service Tuesday evening, according to Union Pacific.
