On Tuesday, the public joined the festivities in downtown Houston.
It all started with a traditional Veterans Day ceremony at 10 a.m., including acknowledgements and keynote speaker, Sgt. Major Angela Maness, U.S. Marine Corps, Retired.
In addition, a moment of silence was held in memory of the signing of the Armistice, which ended WWI.
The American Heroes Parade went east on Dallas, north on Louisiana, west on Walker, south on Smith, west on Lamar, ending on Lamar at Bagby.
Texas has the largest veteran population in the nation, with over 250,000 veterans in residence.
