DEER PARK, Texas (KTRK) -- Officials say two chemical plant workers were hospitalized after an unknown odor was reported at an industrial site in Deer Park on Tuesday morning.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office stated that hazmat crews were working to identify the source, but noted the air quality was at safe levels for the public.

HCSO Captain Jasper said that the odor was detected around 7 a.m. at the Lubrizol Chemical Plant on Tidal Road, causing headaches and nausea for two employees.

"It is being treated as a suspicious odor. We did get a report of two employees, two operators, from Shell who were transported to the hospital for headaches and nausea," Jasper said.

At last check, no hazardous readings were detected within Deer Park city limits, according to the Office of Emergency Management.
