UH spring football game moved to practice field after damage found at TDECU stadium

Tuesday, April 14, 2026
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The University of Houston said it is moving its 2026 spring football game to its outdoor practice field because of field safety concerns at TDECU Stadium.

University officials said damage to multiple areas of the playing field made it unsafe to play on.

According to ABC13's partners at the Houston Chronicle, the damage likely occurred during an Easter service that was hosted at the stadium, but the university did not reveal an exact cause.

The scheduled game is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 18.

For complimentary parking, fans can park in the stadium garage and enter the practice fields from the Holman entrance on the southeast corner.
