Union Pacific contractor shot in northeast Houston, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A contractor for Union Pacific was injured Wednesday afternoon following a shooting in the city's northeast side, the Houston Police Department confirmed.

Police said officers were dispatched to the scene at about 2:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of Gregg Street. HPD said the victim was shot after a suspect robbed two people who were doing rail work.

The contractor was taken to the hospital and is stable, authorities said.



HPD said the gunman was reportedly masked, and nobody was in custody as of Wednesday night.
