Thousands participate to fuel research at the BP MS 150

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Weather may have cut the ride short, but it didn't dampen the spirits thousands of cyclists and 3,500 volunteers in the BP MS 150. This year, because of the threat of bad weather, the ride was Saturday from Houston to La Grange.

This weekend, more than 13,000 cyclists and 3,500 volunteers will hit the road from Houston to Austin in the BP MS 150. It's a two day, 180 mile trek and the largest fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis in the world. The central nervous system disease can affect anyone, even an active, young mom. All of the riders in the BP MS 150 have a personal story. From fundraising to a personal connection and even a professional one. The ride course is where it all merges together for Dr. George Hutton. Dr. Hutton treats MS patients everyday and this year, he will ride alongside some of them in the BP MS 150.

DNU MS 150 Hills

The BP MS 150 is a two-day fundraising bike ride with 13,000 riders organized by staff and volunteers from the National MS Society South Central Region and is the largest of 100 Bike MS events in the United States. The BP MS 150 has three official start locations in the Houston area on Saturday morning.
