On Wednesday, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said that over the weekend, deputies responded to the 12000 block of Noble Wood Drive after getting information that a person with a gunshot wound arrived at the hospital in The Woodlands.
Information from the victim and 911 indicated that a disturbance escalated into an aggravated assault near Noble Wood Drive and Lazy Oak Creek Drive. As the investigation continued, authorities said the incident started from an attempted sale of THC vape cartridges, which then escalated to a gunfire exchange.
During the exchange, multiple homes nearby were struck by bullets, but no one was injured.
Authorities said the only person injured was the initial victim, who was involved in the fight and sale, and was treated at the hospital.
Investigators said this was a targeted incident involving specific individuals and eventually led to the suspects.
Billy Chaplin, 19, from Magnolia, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct. He is currently in Montgomery County Jail. The second suspect, a juvenile, was arrested and is in the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Facility.
