HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Texas Southern University is opening a new spaceport facility at Ellington Airport, built in partnership with the City of Houston and the Houston Airport System.
The facility will provide office and classroom space for on-site instruction, and for the aerospace engineering program, which was approved for development by the Board of Regents in February, TSU said.
TSU said the spaceport facility will allow students to gain skills and experience to build careers in corporate, aerospace, and commercial aviation.
The Houston Airport System previously partnered with San Jacinto College to create the EDGE aerospace workforce development center.
Houston Spaceport also has partnerships with Rice University, Texas A&M University, and University of Houston - Clear Lake.
