HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway after a 15-year-old boy was shot in northeast Houston on Friday afternoon, according to the Houston Police Department.

HPD said the shooting call happened at 2:20 p.m. on 8311 Nysaa Avenue.

HPD Lt. Larry Crowson said that the teen was outside in the street in front of the residence, when a white truck pulled up where he interacted with some males inside the truck.

Shots were then fired from inside the truck and the suspects fled the scene in a white Ford pickup truck, according to Crowson.

Crowson said that the teen was shot in the chest, and was taken to the hospital, where he is in stable condition. The teen is expected to survive, HPD said.

It is unclear on how many suspects were inside the truck.
