HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A 17-year-old has been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, with additional charges pending, after authorities said he is suspected of multiple robberies in the West FM 1960 area.

On Wednesday, the Harris County Sheriff's Office shared that Jalan Conway was arrested on Jan. 8 for his alleged role in multiple robberies in recent weeks.

Authorities said the suspect's pattern of criminal activity involved using an electric scooter for transportation, approaching victims on foot, and producing a handgun, which he pointed at their faces while demanding personal belongings.

On Jan. 8, at about 7 p.m., HCSO said detectives saw Conway wearing all black clothing and a ski mask riding a scooter as he entered an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Sugar Pine Circle. About 10 minutes later, Conway got out of the complex and went toward Kuykendahl Road before going into a nearby convenience store.

During that time, detectives were notified of an aggravated robbery that had taken place involving a man matching Conway's description. After getting out of the store, Conway continued on Kuykendahl toward FM 1960, and detectives followed.

Once he saw the unmarked units, authorities said Conway tried to escape while riding the electric scooter but was taken into custody. He was found with a handgun and the victim's wallet.

As the investigation continues, authorities said there are more victims and encourage anyone with information to call the sheriff's violent crimes unit at 713-274-9365 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
