According to HPD, officers responded to a patrol investigation call at 7:20 p.m. in the 4100 block of Westheimer.
Police say officers ran the plate of a vehicle in the parking lot and received multiple calls about a suspect inside. HPD says officers called for backup after learning the vehicle was reported stolen out of Fort Bend.
According to law enforcement, the suspect didn't comply with officers' commands to exit the vehicle. As officers approached the suspect's vehicle, police say the suspect made a movement to show that he had a potential weapon, which led to shots being fired. It is unclear how many officers discharged the firearm, or if the man actually had a weapon.
After the shots were fired, police say that officers flew a drone and looked to see if there was any movement in the vehicle.
Police say that the suspect was taken to a hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. Police say no officers were hurt.
