The emergency calls came in shortly after 1:30 p.m. HPD says that's when family and friends say a 20-year-old woman fell off a WaveRunner. Police say a group of family and friends were gathered at Deussen Park for a picnic and some fun on the water when the incident occurred.
At one point, HPD, Harris County Sheriff's, and other first responders had a total of 10 boats on the water search for the victim. However, the dive team is now focused on a recovery mission.
"Right now the reports are some had floation devices on and some did not," said HPD Captain KEnnteh Campbell."And one of the person's without, at the very back, fell off the jet ski. They did not come out of the water, the people operating the jet ski searched the area, called 911."
HPD Dive Team members will be using Sonar technology to help locate the young woman. Authorities warn people that as more make it out to area waterways this summer, please wear a life jacket.
