Sanders: Marijuana use should not be a federal crime

MADISON, WI (KTRK) -- Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders says he wants to decriminalize marijuana.

Senator Sanders doubled down on marijuana at a rally in Madison, Wisconsin on Sunday. He says he has introduced legislation to take marijuana out of the federal Controlled Substances Act.

"We can argue about the science and the pluses and minuses about marijuana, but everybody knows marijuana is not a killer drug like heroin," Sanders said, to cheers from supporters.

"It should not be a federal crime."
