Police investigating claims teacher touched 13-year-old student in class: Warrant

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A former charter school teacher is under investigation after a 13-year-old student claimed he touched her inappropriately in class and sent her suggestive messages, according to a search warrant.

ABC13 is not naming the 28-year-old teacher because he hasn't been charged. The educator worked at IDEA Hardy school on Little York until June, according to a school spokesperson, who said the teacher was terminated for unrelated reasons.

According to a search warrant, the alleged conduct occurred from December 2024 to May 2025, although the girl didn't report it to police until August, when she confided in a relative.

The girl told investigators the teacher began messaging her "out of pocket" videos on TikTok in December, which investigators took to mean inappropriate videos.

One allegedly showed someone in a maid costume, and the teacher allegedly told the girl that she'd look good in a similar outfit.

On another occasion, she says he asked her "if she wanted something to happen."

She told police that in May, the teacher started poking and patting her thigh in class.

She says she later messaged him asking if he'd resisted touching her further, to which she says he replied with a bunch of m's and a thinking emoji.

Things escalated in his classroom the next day, she said. That's when she claims he asked her if she wanted him "to do things" and started massaging her thigh.

When she broke away and went to her next class, she said he pulled her out of that class under the guise of her needing to finish a test. Once back in his classroom, she told investigators he touched her breasts.

In a statement, IDEA Public Schools said it was its understanding that the alleged misconduct took place after the teacher's dismissal, contradicting the timeline laid out by police.

On Tuesday, the school clarified its statement, adding that it learned about the allegations in August, after he was terminated in June.

Below is the school's full statement:

"IDEA Hardy is aware of allegations involving a former staff member. IDEA learned about these allegations in August 2025 after the staff member was no longer employed at IDEA. The staff member was terminated in June 2025 for unrelated reasons. IDEA is committed to prioritizing the safety and well-being of staff and students. All further questions should be directed to local law enforcement."
