HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A driver is in custody after leading police on a high-speed chase in Houston's north side on Wednesday afternoon.

The male driver of a dark Audi SUV was running from authorities on roads including Beltway 8 before moving to Highway 290. At about 4 p.m., the driver crashed the vehicle near Gessner and W. Little York, and took off on foot.

Officials say the driver hit two vehicles, including a white Audi and a blue truck, during the police chase.

Officers caught up and took the suspect into custody just a few minutes later near White Oak Circle near Windfern.

Authorities say there was only one person in the vehicle, and it is unclear what charges the suspect will be facing.
