On August 13, Sara Jade Arroyo Montalvo told Storyful she and her fiancé requested to sit separately to write their vows.
When the flight was full, the air hostess did the next best thing: organized for them to be married on the plane.
The bride walked down the aisle, wearing a veil made from a cardboard crown draped in toilet paper.
The other passengers on the Southwest Airlines flight cheered on. The pilot is then heard conducting the ceremony over the radio.
"I've been a minister for over 30 years and I've done hundreds of weddings," he is heard saying. "I've never done one quite like this before."
The surprise wedding was a happy addition to the couple's "exciting love story" after Arroyo Montalvo's fiancé had a murder conviction overturned in 2019 following a false confession.
The couple officially tied the knot in Las Vegas the next day.

The investigation found that Arroyo did not receive a fair trial because the only evidence against him was his own confession, which included a "false fact" likely communicated to him by the arresting officer, Michael Monteverde, and that certain detective notes were not disclosed to the defense attorney, according to the report.
