The Pasadena Fire Marshal's Office said crews responded to the fire just before 2 a.m. on Thursday in the 2800 block of Camille Road. When they arrived, they said heavy fire was coming from the front and back of the house.
As crews were battling the flames, a man was found inside the home and pronounced dead, the fire marshal said.
The City of Pasadena said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, sharing the following statement from Mayor Thomas Schoenbein:
"I am heartbroken by the loss of life in this morning's fire on Camile Street. On behalf of the City of Pasadena, I extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends, and neighbors who are grieving. I know this loss will be felt deeply in the coming days, and I hope those affected know they are surrounded with the care and support of this community.
I am also grateful for the Pasadena Fire Department firefighters who answered the call and worked this difficult scene. I appreciate their bravery and dedication as they battled the blaze and worked to protect the surrounding homes."
The victim has not been identified but was described as a man in his 60s.
