Partial power outage at Pleasure Pier; dozens helped off rides

GALVESTON, TX (KTRK) -- Visitors to Pleasure Pier in Galveston found themselves in the dark Saturday after power was lost.

According to Galveston police, around 40 people had to be helped off rides during the partial outage, which lasted between an hour and an hour and a half.

Fortunately, there were no injuries and everything is back up and running normally.


Pleasure Pier released the following statement Sunday afternoon

    A City transformer malfunctioned causing the Pleasure Pier to lose power yesterday evening. All rides were evacuated and all riders were safely returned to the ground. We are grateful for the immediate response and actions of our employees in bringing all the riders down safely.

    Our primary concern is always for the safety of our guests and employees, and we are thankful no one was injured.



    Pleasure Pier is open business as usual.
