HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Spring is in the air, and not just because of warmer temperatures.

For the first time in four years, the spring version of the famous fundraiser, Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market, is back.

ABC13 was there in 2019 for Nutcracker Market Spring's launch.

As the world was forced to adjust due to the pandemic, the event went virtual for 2020, before returning in-person and going on a break after 2022.

After taking the time off to focus on the fall holiday event, Nutcracker Market organizers have reintroduced this second seasonal option for 2026.

This weekend, 150 merchants will be on hand as shoppers peruse spring and summer essentials at NRG Center.

And like the holiday market, attendees are still encouraged to dress up.

"Four generations of my family attend in the fall, and we will be out in force this spring. I encourage everyone to grab their people," said Michelle Jeffery, Nutcracker Market spokesperson and Fall Market 2026 Chairman.

The Ballet's Nutcracker Markets have become a prime opportunity for small businesses, including for the Willow Hill Soap Company, known for their handcrafted soaps, scrubs, and lotions that use natural ingredients.

The North Carolina - based business has become quite familiar with Houston, with experience attending both fall and spring markets.

They've also earned props from fans for having the "World's Best Marketing Tactic."

"You can find us in the restrooms here at the Nutcracker Market. You can try our stuff. Our soaps and our scrubs will be by the sink. Once you fall in love with the soaps, come visit us in booth 1201," said Taylor Clark, sales and inventory manager.

Visit the Houston Ballet's website for more information on applying to become a merchant for upcoming markets.

Like it's older sibling, Nutcracker Market Spring will still benefit the ballet's students with proceeds from 100% of ticket sales and 11% of merchandise purchases pouring back to their education and development in some capacity.

"Nutcracker Market, both spring and fall, have contributed a little over $100 million to Houston Ballet, its academy, and educational programming," Jeffery said.

While there's no valet available, shoppers can still use rideshares, with drop off and pick up on the west side of NRG Center by the entrance to Hall E.
