Guns drawn, wigs stitched, and yard lines crossed: New trailer drops for Season 2 of 'Chad Powers'

New allies and threats are introduced to the field as the Chad Powers disguise has more eyes on it that ever

LOS ANGELES -- The clock is winding down on Chad Power's time on the field, but the game's not over yet.

The trailer for Season 2 of "Chad Powers" just dropped, and all eyes are on the questionably charismatic quarterback Chad. With more people in on the secret than ever, the disgraced Russ (Glen Powell) is jumping through hoops to keep up his 'Chad' disguise long enough to lead his team to the playoffs.

"I haven't had a lot of real friends in my life," Russ tells his partner-in-crime Danny (Frankie Rodriguez) in a diner to kick off the trailer. "Until you, basically zero."

"I don't want to be earnest!" Danny whines.

The two have been meticulously working on Chad's signature wigs, now known to the entire town. When Russ walks into the stadium, there are Catfish football fans lining the barricades holding up signs and chanting his fake name. To everyone in town, he's their famous college football star.

"You coming to the party tonight?" a college student asks Russ in the cafeteria. "It's tradition."

"Ooh, I love tradition," Russ says to her, using his disguised southern drawl.

The mask is slipping, though. Coach Ricky (Perry Mattfeld) just recently saw through the trick, and is putting more pressure on Russ to keep the act up through the season.

"We are here because you always act so weird all the time," Ricky scolds.

"I am a man living inside the fake skin of another man," Russ responds. "It is a weird situation!"

Ricky is an unlikely ally. A coach on the football team, she's more interested in staving off the craziest football scandal the town's ever seen than helping Russ. She can't argue with the results on the field, but off the field is becoming more difficult to maintain.

"What's the worst that can happen?" Russ asks Danny.

"He finds out you're Russ Holliday and actually murders you?" Danny suggests about their head coach (Steve Zahn).

The team is closer than ever to glory, but every win is another spotlight on Russ that could stop the clock. Between college drama, identity theft and training for game time, all eyes are on Chad to see if he can pull through for the South Georgia Catfish.

All six episodes of "Chad Powers" Season 2 stream Thursday, Sept. 3 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Hulu, Disney+ and this ABC station.
