Motorcyclist killed in deadly crash near Memorial Park, according to Houston police

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston police said an 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed after a deadly crash near Memorial Park on Tuesday night.

According to the Houston Police Department, the crash happened in the 4700 block of Woodway Drive at about 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday.

Officials said the operator of a black Yamaha motorcycle was travelling westbound on Woodway at a high rate of speed when he crashed into a black Jeep Cherokee. The Jeep was traveling eastbound at the time and was trying to turn left onto North Post Oak when the incident happened.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the motocyclist dead at the scene, according to authorities.

The identity of the 18-year-old motorcyclist is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, officials said.



The 55-year-old driver of the Jeep was not injured and remained at the scene, investigators said. The driver, who police said did not show signs of intoxication, was questioned and then released.
