The fire was burning just west of the township of Midfield, and FM 111 was shut down at County Road 454.
At 4:15 p.m., Matagorda County officials announced the fire had burned 65 acres with 0% containment. In an update two hours later, it had burned about 35 more acres with 95% containment.
By 7:30 p.m., officials confirmed with Eyewitness News that the wildfire was extinguished.
Tuesday's windy weather likely contributed to the wildfire's dangerous spread.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a red flag warning Tuesday morning, signaling a high to critical fire danger from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
According to the NWS, strong winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation create dangerous conditions for wildfire growth.
