HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Houston Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that happened in west Houston on Thursday and stretched across two areas.

The incident began at about 12:30 p.m. on the 700 block of Country Place and ended on Memorial Drive near Kirkwood Road, according to HPD.

"Two individuals were in a car; some gunshots went into that vehicle. One of the occupants in that vehicle was struck in the arm. That vehicle left the scene and came to a rest at a nearby location where a passenger requested medical assistance," HPD Capt. Tim Trometer said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Trometer.

Despite that, people in the community are concerned about what happened.

"My friends' children are exactly across the street at this school, and they play outside," Crystal Romay told ABC13.

HPD is searching for clues to solve the crime.

"Right now, there are investigators from the Houston Police Department looking for additional clues or any potential leads they can follow up on," Capt. Trometer said.
