Man hospitalized after Texas City shooting near SH 146, suspect in custody, according to police

TEXAS CITY, Texas (KTRK) -- Police say they have arrested a man after he shot and injured a person in Texas City on Saturday.

According to the Texas City Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call in the 1100 block of State Highway 146 at about 5:20 p.m. on Saturday. Officials said that callers reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area. Police added that several citizens also captured video of the incident as it unfolded.

Authorities said that after an investigation, officers determined that 22-year-old John Pierce shot 37-year-old Jeremiah Olmstead. Officials said that Olmstead was taken to a local hospital and remains in stable condition.

TCPD said it has arrested Pierce, who now faces the felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct, discharging a firearm.

Authorities did not provide information on a possible motive for the shooting.
