HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A man is hospitalized after a deputy-involved shooting in northeast Harris County on Wednesday, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a family disturbance call at 1:30 p.m. in the 15600 block of Morning Dove Drive.

Deputies say that a woman had been assaulted by her son, who is approximately 47 years old, and that he had locked himself in the home. According to law enforcement, deputies noticed smoke coming from the home, which appeared to be a fire that started inside.

According to HCSO, the deputy is approximately 31 years old and has been with the sheriff's department for about seven years.
