GALVESTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man was taken to the hospital after he drove off Seawall Boulevard and into the ocean in an accident, according to the Galveston Police Department.

Galveston police reported the incident on Tuesday afternoon at the 6100 block of Seawall Boulevard.

Images showed a vehicle in the water after a driver accidentally drove off Seawall Boulevard in Galveston, authorities said.

According to investigators, the 50-year-old accidentally drove off the road and ended up in the water.

GPD said he was taken to the hospital while conscious and breathing for evaluation, adding that they do not consider alcohol to be a factor in the crash.

"Actually, this is not unusual, and we ask drivers to always be aware when driving on the Seawall as it is a very busy road," Galveston PD said.

Authorities said no additional injuries were reported.
