HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Cell-phone video that a viewer shared with ABC13 shows a man firing off his gun in the pool area of an apartment building in the Galleria Area on Tuesday.

35-year-old Shreyas Muddusetti is now charged with criminal mischief and deadly conduct in connection with the shooting.

Houston police confirm no one was hurt. Court records state there were $10,000 in damages.

Neighbors we talked to say they were shocked by the shooting.

35-year-old Shreyas Muddusetti is seen stumbling on video and shooting off a gun in the pool area of the Alexan 5151 apartment building on Tuesday night.

"I went to her balcony and heard several gunshots," neighbor Imani Coby said. "It was shocking because things like that don't really happen here."

Police say when they arrived, Muddusetti was already on the ground. Police asked him to drop the gun, and he was arrested without incident.

Investigators say Muddusetti is charged with deadly conduct and criminal mischief.

Police say it's unclear why he did it and say they believe he may have been in crisis or under the influence. They say he was evaluated at the jail.

Jail records show he has bonded out and is required to submit to drug and alcohol testing.

"When I saw the video, especially when he started taking out the gun, I was pretty shocked because a lot of people visit that pool regularly," neighbor Charlie Xue said.

Xue says home is usually where you should feel safe. He is glad no one was hurt.

Court records state Muddusetti has lived in the apartment building for the past several months.

The apartment management sent a letter to renters about the shooting, calling this an isolated incident.

Their legal team has not gotten back to ABC13 for comment.
