HUMBLE, Texas (KTRK) -- The Harris County Sheriff's Office says no deputies were injured after being shot at in the woods in the Humble area.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the shooting happened early Tuesday morning off of Atlantic Drive between FM 1960 East and Atascocita Road.

The sheriff said Kenyon Coleman was in the woods with a chair, an automatic rifle, and ammunition when deputies arrived at the location.

He said Coleman, who was dressed entirely in black, initially fired at them, but was no longer able to fire shots once his rifle jammed.

"I thank God no deputies were hurt," the sheriff wrote in a social media post.

Gonzalez said Coleman was arrested after running into the woods.

The sheriff initially stated that someone had called in a false report to lure the deputies into the woods, but a department spokesperson later told ABC13 that the call was unrelated to Coleman.

Eyewitness News has asked for clarification on that matter.

Gonzalez said Coleman is in the Harris County Jail and will be charged with aggravated assault of a police officer.
