Looking back at some of the Houston area's best athletes through ABC13's Athlete of the Week

Updated 2 hours ago
Since the start of the school year, ABC13 has recognized some of the biggest and brightest stars in our community through our Athlete of the Week segment.

Some featured were Pasadena High School volleyball player Caryme Molina, who is coached by her mom, Carmen Molina, and C.E. King's Bryce Lyons, who was injured and out for his senior football season. The Panthers dedicated the season to Bryce and made it all the way to the state championship game.

Other athletes featured were McKenzi Roberson of Shadow Creek, who medaled in 2 events at the state track meet, and Conroe's Xavier Harmon, who gets it done on and off the field.

There was so much to learn and be impressed by with so many high-achieving high school students around the Houston area.

Stratford's Foard Polley is a young man with many talents.

"Between football and all my homework, I don't have a lot of time left," Polley said. "When it comes to the spring semester, I'm involved in a theater here, and I'm also always in choir."

And there was Klein Collins senior cheerleader Olivia Rodriguez, who gives up so much time to the greater good of others.

Running back Landen Williams-Callis of Randle gave back to the youth program where he started playing the game.

"It means a lot to come back and give back to where I came from," he said.

Bayly Jenkins of George Ranch received the Chancellor Scholarship from Henderson University, providing a full academic ride, and has also earned a dance scholarship.

"I want to be an OB-GYN when I'm older, just to help women out," she said.

So many recognized by ABC13 will graduate and move on to the next chapter of their lives. Their stars will shine brightly with what they learned and what they meant to their high school community.
