LA MARQUE, Texas (KTRK) -- The City of La Marque has been no stranger to political scandals in the past year.

In April, ABC13 learned the city lost more than $15,000 after falling victim to a phishing scam.

In the time since, ABC13 has reported on everything from the city's financial struggles to former city manager J.B. Pritchett's arrest over a multitude of allegations.

One of those allegations is that Pritchett tried to frame Councilman Joseph Lowry for arson.

"He wrote 'F You, Lowry Rules' and then lit his fence on fire," Lowry told us in July.

The most recent political drama in La Marque also involves Lowry.

A group of individuals met at City Hall on Monday evening to say they want the councilman removed from office.

Devonya Greenwood said Lowry uses his social media pages to harass La Marque citizens.

She told ABC13 she's been a target of Lowry's since she posted something online in support of someone the councilman doesn't like.

"He just sits there and uses the city as a shield to commit crimes against people," Greenwood said. "It's bringing a lot of animosity to the community."

Lowry denied any allegations the group has against him.

"I'm the one who has been exposing corruption for five years," Lowry said. "Why would they want to get rid of that?"

Greenwood told us she'd like to see Lowry recalled or removed by the district attorney.

There have been efforts to recall Lowry in the past, but they've been unsuccessful.
