In a 1:30 p.m. update, Xfinity and Comcast said that almost all of their residential and business customers were back online.
"We have determined the major cause of this widespread outage was several, back-to-back acts of suspected vandalism to our telecommunication lines. We are working closely with law enforcement as they investigate these incidents," their statement read, in part.
Technicians are currently working to restore those services, they added.
The ABC13 newsroom received several phone calls Friday from viewers who said they were experiencing the outage.
On Xfinity's website, thousands of outages could be seen on their outage map.
The National Weather Service also confirmed it was dealing with a communications outage related to the Xfinity outage.
Similarly, Port Houston shared on social media that it was being impacted by a widespread internet outage.
By 12:20 p.m., the port said the outage that affected both container terminals had been resolved.
ABC13 reached out to different agencies to see if they were being impacted.
UTMB Health said that its sites and community clinics are affected. "Xfinity is currently working to reroute customers and restore service. It expects to have work completed around 4 pm this afternoon," UTMB said in a statement.
The City of Manvel said its police department was not experiencing service interruptions.
The City of Pasadena told ABC13 its emergency services also aren't affected.
