Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted on social media that deputies responded to the 21400 block of Sagrantino Court on Tuesday morning.
Investigators told ABC13 that a fight happened between a woman's estranged husband and the new man she's dating, which escalated to the front yard. Authorities said the son then kept his own father in a chokehold until deputies arrived.
"What we know at this point is that the husband and wife, both in their 30s, were going through a separation. The husband was out of town, but has recently returned," Major Ben Katrib said.
HCSO said the husband's return was at 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday, and that's when things escalated.
"A female reported that her estranged husband was banging on the door. A few moments later, the call was updated, indicating that the male had made it inside the home and a fight had ensued," Katrib said.
Investigators said the fight was between the estranged husband and the man the woman appears to be currently dating.
"The fight led to the front yard, where a 15-year-old family member placed the father in a chokehold until deputies arrived," Katrib said.
Deputies said the father was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead.
Investigators also say three children, including the 15-year-old, were in the home at the time.
"All the facts of this case will be presented to the Harris County District Attorney's Office to make a determination whether or not any charges will be filed or whether to present this case to the grand jury," Katrib said.
Deputies said no one has been arrested and that they are continuing to interview everyone else involved.
