HCSO says man found dead in burning pickup on Christmas in SW Harris County had been shot

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- The Harris County Sheriff's Office says a man had been shot before being found in a burning pickup truck in southwest Harris County on Thursday, according to officials.

Just before 5 a.m., on Christmas Day, deputies arrived at the 1100 block of Fellows Road after receiving a call that a vehicle was on fire.

As deputies worked to clear the scene, the man's body was found in the pickup's backseat, investigators said. According to deputies, it was later determined that the man had suffered from a gunshot wound.

HCSO Detective Mario Quintanilla said the truck was purposefully left in the spot before being torched.



An autopsy, officials said, will happen to figure out the victim's cause of death.

The victim's identity has yet to be determined, and officials said the investigation continues as they look for surveillance video in the area, HCSO said.
