HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- International Women's Day is March 8, 2026, but one could say the festivities are kicking off early.

That's because the International Women's Festival is coming this weekend to Midtown Park, located at 2811 Travis Street.

The event will run from 3 p.m. - 9 p.m., and attendees are asked to wear white "as a symbol of awakening, unity, and new beginnings," according to the festival's website.

The festival is also free and takes place rain or shine.

According to organizers, it'll be an occasion to mark the achievements of women, while also benefiting the Roque Foundation, which focuses on initiatives and resources aimed at improving the quality of life of older adults.

In addition, guests can also expect a number of experiences from culinary and the arts to music, showcases, podcasts and panels.

The fest will also celebrate women in a variety of areas, including leadership, STEM, gastronomy, education and the arts.

While we're still a few months away from International Women's Day, there's still plenty to know in the meantime.

It's designed to elevate women and promote equality in several areas, including investments to provide freedom from poverty and working to prevent and end violence.
