Man charged with capital murder in shooting that placed 2 Huntsville ISD schools on lockdown: Police

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (KTRK) -- A suspect has been charged with capital murder in connection with a shooting in Huntsville on Wednesday morning, according to police.

Authorities identified Marquel Wiley as the capital murder suspect.

According to the Huntsville Police Department, officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex on Essex Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found two victims at the scene, where one was pronounced dead and the other was taken by Life Flight for serious injuries.



Police say Wiley fled the scene on foot into the wooded area from Essex Boulevard toward FM 2821, prior to being taken into custody.



Two Huntsville ISD schools, Huntsville Elementary and Huntsville High School, were placed on lockdown due to their proximity to the shooting, authorities said.
