HPD releases sketch and video of suspect wanted in shooting that left man dead in east Houston

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Authorities have released a police sketch and surveillance video of a suspect accused of shooting a man to death in east Houston last month.



According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to the shooting at 8:55 p.m. on May 31 on 7200 Canal Street.

Upon arrival, police say that they found the victim, identified as 42-year-old Jose Trujillo, with at least one gunshot wound lying on the sidewalk. Trujillo was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead by Houston Fire Department paramedics.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s, standing 5 feet 2 inches tall, with black curly hair, HPD said. The suspect was last seen wearing a beige T-shirt and light blue jeans, according to police. Investigators said that Trujillo was seen running from the scene.



Witnesses told police that they heard multiple gunshots in the area before finding Trujilo dead, HPD said.
