HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police are working on gathering more details about the shooting death of a 50-year-old woman in north Houston.

On Tuesday, the Houston Police Department shared that officers were investigating a deadly shooting that took place on Monday in the 2800 block of Laura Koppe Road.

Officers were responding to a person down call when they found the unresponsive woman inside an apartment. HPD said she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, but officers learned that neighbors heard gunshots at about 9 p.m. Sunday and saw a man, believed to be the woman's boyfriend, leaving the apartment alone.

Investigators said they would like to speak with the man, whom others described as a dark-skinned Black man, 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a stocky build and short hair.

Anyone with information on the man is urged not to approach him and contact police at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
