Man shot, another detained after argument on METRO bus in southeast Houston, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway in Houston's southeast side following a fight on a METRO bus that led to a shooting, leaving a person injured, according to police.

On Tuesday, the Houston Police Department shared that officers were dispatched at 1:40 p.m. to a shooting call in the 5100 block of Griggs Road.

According to the METRO Police Department, initial information indicates that two people were in an argument while on a Route 87 bus. Investigators said the dispute continued after they both exited the bus, when another man approached the two men and shot one of them.

Authorities said the victim was injured and taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

HPD said the suspect fled the scene on a scooter after the shooting.



Police said officers have detained one person. An active investigation into the incident is underway, officials said.
