The trade can be formally completed when the new league year begins July 6.
Concerning Houston, this move puts the Rockets as a championship contender in the loaded Western Conference. The Rockets also add a bonafide go-to scorer in KD, who provides championship experience to its core alongside starting point guard and former NBA champion, Fred VanVleet. With Durant approaching 37 years old next season, the trade gives him another opportunity to win a title since his glory days with the Golden State Warriors after experiencing shortcomings with his tenure with the Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns.
As for the Suns, the franchise now enters a fresh start in the short-lived KD era by acquiring a young player in Jalen Green to pair up with their cornerstone, Devin Booker. However, the Suns will have to assess their logjam at the shooting guard position with Booker, Green, and Bradley Beal in their rotation under new head coach Jordan Ott. Additionally, Phoenix added a veteran in Dillon Brooks, who will provide defense and 3-point shooting to its team, and a first-round draft pick at No. 10 for this year's draft.
