Joshua Biosah was arrested and charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon after a security guard reportedly spotted him with a firearm inside the venue.
Toliver, a Houston native, was performing for a sold-out hometown crowd when the show abruptly ended. Concertgoers were not immediately told why the performance had stopped.
Kent Schaffer, Toliver's attorney, was attending the concert as a guest and said he did not realize there was an issue until after the show had ended.
"I didn't know anything until after everything had occurred," Schaffer said. "Then I'm told backstage what had happened."
Schaffer said the incident caught everyone off guard and was particularly disappointing because the performance was taking place in Toliver's hometown.
Toliver is currently on an international tour and has performed in more than 20 cities since March, according to Schaffer. He said the rapper had not experienced any similar incidents during the tour.
Schaffer said Toyota Center has strict policies regarding firearms inside the arena and that the discovery of a gun results in the immediate end of a performance.
Sources told ABC13 that Biosah is the brother of another well-known Houston rapper. However, sources said the alleged weapons incident is unrelated to that rapper.
Toyota Center has security screening all concertgoers. It is unknown at this point how Biosah allegedly got past initial security. Video shared by concertgoers shows people looking confused after the lights came on earlier than expected.
"It's just unfortunate because this is a special day. The Mayor declared yesterday Don Tolivar Day; Bun B presented him with a proclamation. His family was all there," Schaffer said.
