HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston police are investigating a shooting and attempted robbery involving an armored truck on Westheimer Road.

The call came in at about 11:45 a.m. Thursday.

According to the Houston Police Department, the shooting happened in the 8100 block of Westheimer outside of Bank of America.

HPD said an armored truck, with a female driver and male security guard inside, pulled into the parking lot to collect money from the ATMs.

At least two suspects inside a black Suburban were canvassing the parking lot. Police said one of the suspects jumped out of the SUV and pepper-sprayed both of the armored truck workers.

The security guard was able to fire his gun and hit the suspect who sprayed them. That suspect was taken to the hospital.

Police said they were not sure if the suspects got away with any money from the truck.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, police said they believed four suspects were involved. On scene, police said they believed there were at least two other suspects at large. Later, they said they only believed the driver was outstanding.

The police investigation is ongoing.
