Cement truck driver ran through stop sign before deadly crash in SE Houston, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A driver is dead after authorities said a cement truck driver ran through a stop sign, hitting the victim's vehicle in southeast Houston on Tuesday.

At about 1:35 p.m., Houston Police Department officers responded to the 13900 block of Cullen Boulevard, where the crash happened.

HPD said the driver of a white International concrete mixer was driving eastbound on Schurmier Road when he approached the intersection at Cullen Boulevard and "disregarded a stop sign."

The cement truck then hit a white Toyota Corolla that was heading northbound on Cullen. The 69-year-old driver of the Corolla was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in the Corolla was taken to a hospital and is stable.

Police said the driver of the cement truck was questioned but not found to be intoxicated. The crash remains under investigation.
