HOUSTON (KTRK) -- People living in some areas of town are complaining about a funny smell or taste in their tap water.
Earlier today, the City of Houston Public Works issued a statement. Officials attribute the funny taste or odor to a naturally occurring compound in upstream surface water.
However, they ensure the water is completely safe. For some residents, that's not enough to put their minds at ease.
"My question is, is it really safe? How widespread is it? Is it gonna get better, is this a temporary thing?" said Houston resident Jerry.
Houston Public Works says it's evaluating treatment options.
