HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A house in northwest Harris County caught on fire overnight due to improperly disposed fireworks, the Cy-Fair Fire Department said.

According to the fire department, crews responded to River Garden Drive in the Copperfield Subdivision, where they discovered heavy fire and smoke conditions in the rear of the house.
Authorities said that the residents of the house were able to get out safely.
The blaze was started by fireworks not being properly disposed of, according to the fire officials. They then advised the public to soak all used fireworks for at least eight hours before disposing of the debris.
