According to the Houston Police Department, officers have not found any issues after the airport received the "general threat," adding that they are currently implementing security protocols.
Hobby Airport later said that it is aware of a reported threat involving a Southwest Airlines flight, adding that HPD responded and is investigating. Hobby officials also said that the airport remains operational.
In a statement, Southwest Airlines said one of its flights on the ground underwent security screening at the request of local law enforcement, resulting in delays for other inbound Southwest flights. Airline officials said that their operations have resumed at Hobby.
Passengers on a Southwest flight called Eyewitness News and said they were on board a plane parked on the airport's tarmac due to a "security issue."
According to FlightAware, Hobby Airport is experiencing departure delays of about 50 minutes, with that time increasing.
ABC13 crews are en route to Hobby Airport to gather more information.
