The "live" audience Friday night was bigger and more rowdy than past shows and Angela Box was just as animated. Earlier she spoke out after calls for her to resign from the classroom.
"You may not agree with me," said Angela Box. "That's cool. That's your right, but it's my right to be able to say what I believe."
Box is a commentator on Tommy's Garage, a conservative talk show that touches on everything from her disdain for President Barack Obama, to her frustration with Muslims on welfare asking for food specifically prepared as dictated by their religion.
The show airs Saturday nights at midnight, but you can access it online anytime.
"That's what's going on in the world," Box said. "The world is on fire and we're going to pretend like it's not?"
Box is a third grade teacher at Ray Daily Elementary. But she took the day off Friday, after some parents and teachers called for her to resign from the classroom.
"How are the kids being treated in the classroom when the very people that you have such a disdain for are in your classroom?" asked parent Ladonna Begelton.
But Box said she won't resign.
"I teach free thinkers," she said. "I teach children to problem solve. I teach children to think for themselves."
"We don't agree with the video. We don't agree with her reaction on the video," said HISD Superintendent Terry Grier. "But attorneys tell us it's a first amendment right, and as long as it stays out of the schools, we're going to treat it as such."
