CYPRESS, Texas (KTRK) -- A five-year-old boy with autism is confirmed dead after drowning in a pond in Cypress, authorities announced Sunday.

The video above is from ABC13's 24/7 livestream.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's office, Precinct 5 deputies arrived at the 20500 block of Keegans Ledge Lane where the child was reported missing.

The child was discovered in the pond shortly after.

Life saving measures were performed, but unfortunately it was too late.

"I don't foresee any charges being filed," Sgt Michael Ritchie, with the Harris County Sheriff's Office, said.

"I just foresee this as a very unfortunate accident," he added.

Sgt Michael Ritchie says the boy had to have walked at least a quarter mile from his home to the retention pond.

He was allegedly barefoot with only a diaper and t-shirt on.

Nikko Jones gasped when we told her about the boy's tragic death.

She lives in the neighborhood and has a daughter the exact same age.

"It's devastating. I feel for the situation right now even though it's not my child," Jones said.
